The long hallways await the shuffle of feet from one session to the other; the many rooms are ready to accommodate the hundreds of TESOL attendees. What old friends will reconnect? What new colleagues will be welcomed?

TESOL 2013 Graduate Student Forum
On Wednesday, 20 March, the Dallas Convention Center hosted the 13th annual Graduate Student Forum. An excellent opportunity for master’s students pursuing a degree in TESOL to present their work and research, the forum proves for many to be a welcome start not just to the TESOL conference, but to the robust network of professionals involved in TESOL.
This year the Graduate Student Forum, hosted by Iowa State University, featured 70 presentations, demonstration, and poster sessions, as well as an opening session and invited speaker in conjunction with the Doctoral Forum. With over 150 participants representing universities from around the United States and across the globe, the Graduate Student Forum featured a variety of sessions on topics such as World Englishes, multlingualism, language assessment, Web 2.0 technology for language learning, and metacognitive learning strategies.
The 2013 TESOL Graduate Student Forum marked a successful start to a wonderful international conference, and it signifies a bright future for our organization. Our thanks go to TESOL International Association for its continued support as well as to the participants, attendees, and volunteers.

The 2014 Graduate Student Forum will be hosted by Georgia State University and will take place in conjunction with the TESOL International Convention and English Language Expo in Portland, Oregon. We encourage all master’s students to apply to present at the Graduate Student Forum and all doctoral students to apply to the Doctoral Forum. A call for proposals will be sent out at the beginning of the fall semester. Watch the TESOL website for details.
